Inverse proportion
Two variables are inversely proportional if multiplying one of them by a number results in the other being divided by the same number.
If two quantities x and y are inversely proportional, we write:
\[y\propto \frac{1}{x}\]
The variables are related by the following equation, where k is a constant:
\[y=\frac{k}{x}\]
