When converting from a larger unit to a smaller unit there will be more of the smaller unit, therefor we multiply.
For example, 5 m = 5 x 100 cm = 500 cm
When converting from a smaller unit to a larger unit there will be less of the larger unit, therefor we divide.
For example, 500 cm = 500/100 m = 5 m
For example, 5 m = 5 x 100 cm = 500 cm
When converting from a smaller unit to a larger unit there will be less of the larger unit, therefor we divide.
For example, 500 cm = 500/100 m = 5 m
